About the Council

This Council is chartered by the Canadian Union of Public Employees and is subject to their Constitution. It consists of all Hospitals and Institutional Locals in the Province of New Brunswick, First Schedule Part III of the Public Service Labour Relations Act.

The New Brunswick Council of Hospital Unions is the certified Bargaining Agent for all groups of Employees in the Hospitals and Central Services under the New Brunswick Public Service Labour Relations Act.

The Council negotiates a Province wide Agreement with the Government of New Brunswick’s Department of Finance and Treasury Board who represented the Regional Health Authority listed under Part III First Schedule of the Public Service Labour Relations Act.

It has approximately 9,900 members, covered by twelve Locals chartered by the Canadian Union of Public Employees, there is a total of 23 locals and subunits. These members are part of the professional team working within Vitality Health Network, Horizon Health Network, Ambulance New Brunswick, and the New Brunswick Health Council.
