This Council is chartered by the Canadian Union of Public Employees and is subject to the Constitution of the Canadian Union of Public Employees. It consists of all Hospitals and Institutional Locals in the Province of New Brunswick, First Schedule Part III of the Public Service Labour Relations Act.
The New Brunswick Council of Hospital Unions seeks and maintains the certification as a Bargaining Agent for any group of Employees in the Hospitals and Central Services under the New Brunswick Public Service Labour Relations Act.
The Council negotiates a Province wide Agreement with the Province of New Brunswick’s Department of Finance as represented by the Regional Health Authority Boards of the Regional Health Authorities listed under Part III First Schedule of the Public Service Labour Relations Act.
It has an approximate membership of 11,000 members, covered by thirty one Locals all chartered by the Canadian Union of Public Employees. These members are Hospital Support Workers working within Vitalite Health Network, Horizon Health Network, FacilicorpNB, Ambulance New Brunswick, and Health Council of New Brunswick.
